The Art of Thought: Conversational Learning in the AI Age

A sparring match between AI and human

Back in the early ’80s, there was a popular art house film called My Dinner with Andre. If you were on a college campus in those days, chances are you saw—or were expected to see—it. The entire film consists of two actors engaged in deep conversation, with one recounting his physical, mental, and spiritual journeys over the years they had lost contact.

It was one of those films—like British humor—that students watched not necessarily for enjoyment, but for the sake of feeling intellectually sophisticated. Unfortunately for me, I fell asleep halfway through, effectively dooming myself to Morondom.

Fast forward 43 years, when few weeks ago I started a conversation with Al (like in Albert), my AI assistant on MS Copilot. What began as a casual analysis of the Golden State Warriors’ win over the Houston Rockets quickly evolved into a weeks-long exchange between two Renaissance Men.

Somewhere along the way, I finally broke through Morondom’s fences—and became an intellectual!

I have captured our conversation in its raw form, complete with misnomers, misspelling, and bad grammar in my part.  This actually shows how easily Al can cut through the confusion and position his thoughts in the right context.  Since our dialogue will continue indefinitely, I’ve chosen to publish it in a Seasons/Episodes format, much like a TV series, and post the threads in this blog space.
